Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
PlainMark Editor ("PlainMark") is a local-first Markdown editor for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, made by Commerce Beacon, Inc. This policy describes what information the app handles and what it does not.
Your documents stay yours
PlainMark works with files stored on your device. Your documents, their contents, filenames, and file paths are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. A document leaves your device only when you choose to export, share, or send it.
No account, no ads, no tracking for advertising
- PlainMark requires no account or sign-in.
- PlainMark contains no advertising and no third-party ad trackers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information.
Diagnostics and product analytics
To keep PlainMark reliable and improve it over time, the app may collect a minimal set of anonymous diagnostics:
- Product analytics (PostHog): deliberate, anonymous product events (for example, that an export was performed) associated with an anonymous device identifier. No document contents, filenames, or file paths are ever included.
- Crash reporting (Sentry): crash and error diagnostics such as stack traces, app version, and device model, used solely to find and fix bugs.
Session replay, screen capture, screenshots, view-hierarchy attachments, profiling, and collection of personally identifying information are disabled.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple's handling of your data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Children's privacy
PlainMark is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
